As everyone from Toronto to Ottawa to Montreal to New York now knows, we had a 5.5 Mb earthquake at about 1:45pm this afternoon. Immediately, there were plenty of people tweeting that it was Mother Nature protesting against the G20.
On top of that, the Toronto Star wrote an article about a lunar eclipse happening on June 26– the Saturday of the G20. Astrologer Rob Tillet ways in with a bold prediction:
“The common people (the Moon, Saturn) will be included to overthrow or resist their rulers (Sun, Jupiter), who will seek to control and repress them, even while offering blandishments and concessions.”
Should Torontonians be worried by these apparently worrying signs of impending doom? No. The epicentre of the earthquake we just experienced was 61km north of Ottawa, making it a good 400km from Toronto. If this was a warning shot across the bows for G20 leaders, Mother Nature fired in the wrong direction.
As for the “moon-in-capricorn” eclipse, it is not a full eclipse, it will not be very visible from Toronto and the moon’s not even in the constellation Capricorn. So, not the sign of doom we’ve promised.
